Default Please help with gsr diagnosis

97 Gsr and the problem is two things. First when driving around the car feels like its underpowered, hesitating and then when you keep accelerating it like breaks through and powers up like it normally should. ( Vtec has been working fine and this lack of power is not every time i start up and go just randomly) Second the car will "reverse surge" at idle. I mean it will be idling at like 750-800 and drop to 500 and back up and it will get lower and lower and sometimes stall at idle.

It has new plugs, wires, fuel filter, rotor, cap, and coil (Dizzy died after i put in new rotor so i replaced the coil with another gsr coil and its been okay.) Could it be the old ignition module in the dizzy?

Do you think it is the iacv? Or is it the apexi vtec controller i have? I didn't put in the controller and i know i should take it out. Has anyone had these issues? What do you think?

probably the controller, similar issues I've had with msd multi spark discharge, when I took it off it stopped. try that if nothing changes you can probably put it back on.

The block is stock but the head was rebuilt w/ jg springs valves retainers and b17 cams mild port and polish. The ecu is stock. So the vtec controller would cause the car to bog while accelerating? Is this because vtec controller needs to be tuned or does the wiring mess it up?

you won't be able to tell till you take the vtec controller out. Do so and see how your car reacts. sounds like iacv though.

yes your vtec controller is for tuning purposes..just making adjustments without any reason will mess up your car..and why are you running a stock ecu on p&p head? the air flow is different..that could be a issue also

Mau i really need to get tuning software and a tune, i don't know which one yet i have to research some options plus money issue, but do you guys think the car bogs/hesitates during acceleration because of the p&p head, or a dirty iacv, or the dizzy still needs a new module. Has anyone had the iacv cause the idle to slowly die?, because i thought it would make it surge higher like 1000-1500 or so. If i clean it out ill have to adjust the idle correct?

sounds like you have to adjust the idle anyways, but cleaning the iacv would be a good start
