Check your plugs. Compare them with a plug wear chart and post the results.

i could recommend changing the cap and rotor. or clean the cap and rotor and see if it helps at all. scrapping the post off and the edge of the rotor

Missing only in Vtec is not an ignition problem so you should be able to rule out that entire system. The ignition receives more voltage as RPM increases, which is why ignition problems almost always present with at least slight idle problems. Make sure that heat, including both environmental and engine heat, isn't a factor with your problem. Once that's out of the way, you're looking at a timing, fuel or control problem. Control meaning the sensors or ECU programming. Aside from checking the plugs, you may want to borrow a fuel pressure test kit from a parts store and check your fuel pressure with and without the regulator vacuum hose attached to see if you are pushing enough fuel to supply vtec operation.

That was the problem in my Y8, changed the Igniter and it was fine.

OP, if you want to come to Federal Way, I have parts to fix it.

I would focus first on the ignition system (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, ICM) and ignition timing. Any CEL codes?
