issue - need help and advice
got this issue with my 89 SI hatchback
problem started like this....
little by little the problem would get worse....
it started out not starting once a week, then gradually it got worse. The car before starting would just click...
I get in, turn the key to the on position with the clutch pushed in... i wait for the car to start but all i get is 1 click. I keep repeating turning the key with clutch pushed in still until the car starts. ( this is after like 10-20 times turning the key until it'll start )
i changed the harness ( i guess you would call it ) but its the wiring that is attached to the ignition part where you put the key in ( they said this is a VERY common problem...was even a recall at one point ) after this was replaced the car started PERFECTLY for 2 days, then the issue returned
i bought the lil harness piece once again thinking it would resolve the issue but it hasnt... i dont think its the started/solenoid because i can use a wire and get the starter to turn and if i pushed the car and did the whole jump in thing while the car is moving to start it, its fine....
im praying this isnt a wiring issue.... anyone please help? similar past issues? fixes?

Do you mean the click from the main relay or the starter? If its the starter, your copper contact point is worn down or the connection from the starter is loose.
other then that all the fuses are good / relays as well
thanks for the help people. if anyone has any other advice please assist.
honestly I'm going with these guys sounds like where the starter is connected it is loose, mine did it in the past tighter it up and it was good to go.
have you tested the ignition wire on the starter?
if thats getting power when you turn the key to start
then it has to be a power lead or grounding issue
