Default Horsepower goal? We all need one.

Note that this is a car that will only be run at the track, and hauled on a trailer. No pump gas. Racing fuel only.

Here's my deal. I've figured out what I want to do, which is boost a B18B bottom end with a first generation B16a head. Of course I could leave the B18B head on it, but we shall see I suppose. For now, this project is leaning towards LS/VTEC. I will leave the B18B's stock internals alone. Just adding the head in this instance. Maybe a little dumb, but whatever (Open for comments, so fire away lol). I want to go with the Holset HX35. I will only run either C12 or C16 race fuel. No pump gas for me. Never again. This will all be going into my 91 Integra. I have an B16a S1 cable transmission that i've been running in the car for years that I put a Richmond spool in. I also have a nice B18B hydro transmission. Not sure about which transmission at this point, but i'm sort of leaning towards the hydro if I can't get my cable transmission fixed in time for my car to be ready to race.

Anyhow, I feel that this combo should be reliable and make decent power for a fair amount of money. So just give me some ideas of what I can expect as far as a reasonable horsepower goal.

Anyone?

I dont think the stock pistons will like much more than 450-500..? depends on the tune.

What about a little over 300hp? I was thinking about boost up to approx 15 psi. Not sure if that's where I want to be yet. I mean, this is a stock bottom end we're dealing with. As far as my current rpm goal, 7800 to 8000 is my rpm limit. No more than that. I really don't see the point in going higher with a stock head and cams.

I just want a motor with plenty of nut sack to get me into the 12's for sure. I know, i'll probably want to go faster as time wears on. Maybe not though.

i just don't think the stock internals will be happy past 400..i've definately seen it done with stock ls motors, but i'm sure that you are full aware of the strength of the stock internals and sleeves. At the minimem if you don't want to build then i would add headstuds

i dont think its safe to rev the stock ls bottom end that high personally.. i believe stock ls redline is what 6800 or 7200 its one or the other, i forget, i never owned an ls.. so i would keep it within the stock rev limit for the bottom end. remember those rod bolts lol. an also its just not safe to rev it past stock rev limiter on stock internals unless you want a rod through the block.. good luck

Wait a minute... your using this car as a drag car even towing it to the strip, using c12 or c16, and your leaving it with stock internals? Are you stupid or poor? Stock block won't last you to long pushing more then 400 hp.

If your going to go through all this effect to make this car just a "drag car" then why the hell would you not spend a bit of extra cash to built this block?

But hey I guess it's not up to me to if you want to tow around a 350 hp integra lol. Even though alot of dailys push more then you.
