Default What watt speakers?

I have a Kenwood CD player in my 93 civic SI, I believe it says it puts out 4 x 45W max output power

The speakers that came in the car sounded like **** because they were high dollar speakers with out an amp. What should I get to replace them that will sound good with this deck. Im not into stereo stuff I just want some thing to listen to so I will be buying the 2 door speakers and the 2 by the rear seat......I think they are 5.25"

Stock speakers?
Max power isn't the rating you want to go by. You want to go by the continous (RMS) power rating in order to match a pair of speakers. You don't want to amp these speakers?

no I really don want any more audio crap in this car than I need just some thing to sound ok with a kenwood CD player.

Im sick of going into stereo places to have them try to sell me the most expensive crap in there. People do still just upgrade to a CD player and nicer speakers right??

Bottom line, if you want better sound you have to spend some money. As Mr. Deadman put it there is a little more to it. If there are already decent speakers in your car, go to Crutchfield orAmazon.com and find a 4-channel amp that you like.

If you really want something to sound decent with your current set up and not have to worry about installation, you can buy pretty much anything at bestbuy and still be on the low end; however, I would buy it from Amazon.com which will save you significantly more. So, infinity reference, rockford fosgate, blaupunkt, and low end alpines (type S I believe) are IMO decent. I've ran infinities, alpines, kenwoods, and jls (you get what you pay for). In your case there is no real right or wrong...what looks neat to you. Also, try playing with your EQ settings on your head unit, that might help.

im just wondering wattage wise what I should be looking for, the speakers that were in the door that were nice are now blown and I am just running 6x9s in an old deck lid. so there are no speakers in the factory locations.

I am not really looking for "better" sound just some thing that will work and not be totally under powered with just the deck.

I swear in going to explode if I hear one more person say "if you want beter sound run an amp" lol I just want sound...decent is fine lol

Replace the speakers with some Infinity speakers, they make some pretty good 2 ohm, low wattage, efficient speakers to take full advantage of the relatively low wattage of a HUs internal amp.

There are ways to get the most out of "just" a HU and speakers.
The most important is the selection and installation of the speakers, it is critical that the speakers are installed properly to get the best possible sound out of them.
The second thing to do is to properly wire the HU, the stock constant power and ground are not capable of supplying the HUs internal amp with the current it needs to produce it's rated RMS output, so instead of using the stock 12V+ constant, [just cap it off] run a fused 12ga power lead from the batt. to behind the HU and connect the HUs constant power input, [yellow] to it, you will also need to add a 12ga ground lead, from the chassis of the HU to the chassis of the car, if HU is properly braced to the dash sub frame a 12ga ground is not needed. 94
