Default Crome and starting a new engine for the first time

I will be installing my engine back in my car this weekend. I did new pistons, rods and some head work. I know the best practice is to start it so as not to wash out the rings.

Other than a known good basemap, are there any changes I should make within Crome when starting the car for the first time? Should I lean out the idle maps more?

I have 450cc DSM injectors, walbro 255 pump and the pistons were changed from stock 9.2/1 to 9.3/1 compression ratio. I also have an LC-1 for A/F purposes.

Thanks all

Start the car, watch the a/f ratios & proceed from there :-)

Hi,

So would 14.7 AFR be fine as a target ratio for a first start and idle?

Thanks all

when you first start the car the A/F should be richer due to the Post Fuel..then ECT/IAT compensations. Once the car warms up yea 14.7 is a good target good luck!

i usually try and get it around 13.8-14.2 at cold start (may need to be richer in areas where it gets insanely cold). Just remember that 14.7 is ideal (theoretically a perfect burning of fuel) for operating temperatures (180+*F) but not for cold engine temps.

start with a known good map and go from there. If you have a wideband then you are all set.
