Cold start
Hi!
I was wondering how do you guys treat your car in the morning...
Do you crank'n'go or do you leave a car to idle for a 2-3 minutes (or more) til it gets some temperature and then start driving???
The first few minutes are causing the most wear of the engine...
But in Honda manual it says just to crank the car and start driving slowly not doing high revs until it reaches the normal operating temperature...
But if the most engine wear is done the first 2-3 minutes when you start it in the morning, wouldn't it be wise to leave it idle for 3-4 minutes until it gets to the temperature and then start to drive... it would be common sense, but Honda recommends differently...
How do you do it...
Personaly, I start the car in the morning and leave it idle for aprox 1 minute until the engine is fully lubed and little warmed up... then I slowly start driving and I am not exceedind 3000 rpm before my car gets the operating temperature... then I hit it (if I must)... (and I must)...
I wonder if I am doing all that correctly...

Re: Cold start (KKVTi)
i usually turn on my car, let it run for at least 1 minute, then drive it normally. wait until about 5 minutes of driving is when i can drive hard on it.
I think it's best to wait until the motor is up to "normal operating temperature"
NOTE: for VTEC engines....I've notice VTEC only kicks in after the motor is up to "normal operating temperature".
