Default Radio-need help

I just installed a new deck in my car. everything works great, it powers up, all the functions work, Ipod plays through it, CDs work. But I have no radio signal. on every station its just static. and im not sure why. i had the antenna hooked up from the harness to the radio correctly, i think. I have a 98 EX and as you know the keyless entry is through the radio. but i couldnt get the old radio to sit behind the dash so i just bypassed it. There was two plugs that came off the old radio but i dont know what he smaller green plug has in it for wires.

the antenna should have its own plug that goes to the back of the deck.

so there are two plugs for the oem and 1 for the new deck??
there should be 1 each and then be spliced into the civic harness.

well i kinda made my own make-shift harness out of one that was supposed to keep the keyless entry. theres a plug that plugs into one of the existing plugs and the splices with the wires coming from my new deck. how could i splice wires froma third harness?

OMG , blast from the past.

I used to have a 98 EX myself.

The place to stash the old unit is under where the center console meets the dash. That's where mine was and the whole setup worked.

lol there is no third harness inless your talking about the deck harness.
you pretty much got,
1 end goes to car harness, 1 to oem deck and 1 splices into new deck wire harness.
your not plugging the antenna into the old deck right?
when i put a deck in my friends ex i stuffed the deck in the same spot.
just wiggle it around and it will fit.

don't worry about the green plug, has nothing to do with your new radio. If your radio is getting power, is connected to the speakers, and has the antenna plugged in, it should work. If you still get no radio signal, its a defective radio.

this is what the antenna plug should look like. Its called a motorola plug.

alright... heres the run down. When i bought the car i was told that it previously had a 6 CD changer in it. i saw the cord that ran to the trunk but never followed it the the dash and removed it. One day i tore apart my whole dash to get at the radio. I unplugged the antenna plug and forgot to plug it back in, but my radio still worked.

When i first tried putting the old radio under the dash it didnt fit and i got frustrated and just said screw the keyless entry.
i then re-tried everything because i was mad the raio didnt work (i had just been listening to my ipod) so i looked to see how i could get the old radio to fit. I discoverd a square silver box with alot of cords running to and from it. It was the CD changer master control unit. I removed all of that. My radio fit and i got it all hooked up correctly but my radio still didnt work. I then just put it back the way it was with the new radio working with just my ipod.

Now i realize that the new radio needs the antenna plug but i never even though about it because my old one worked without it. Does this make sense to anyone?

sorry for the novel
