I am doing a ls vtec. My set up is a b18a1 block and im using stock ls rods with nippon low cm pistons. The head is a b16a head with type r springs and retainers other then that the head is stock. What would i have to do to make sure this set up will last long. I dont have the money to buy aftermarket rods and pistons. So please what do you thing? Will it be safe?
Rod bolts are a must, any OBD oil pump or and OBD1 vtec oil pump and a good tune it will last. depending on what cams you run will be how high you can rev. I personally wouldnt go over 8500rpm if your looking for longevity but if your running b16 cams it wont really make power that high anyway and no need to rev that high. That combined with a set of headstuds and you will be fine.

i have arp head studs, stock ls head casket, and gsr cams. now whats a better way to run the turbo oil line and ls vtec oil line? i mean should i just buy a oil sandwitch plate to run both oil lines to it?

run the oil feed off the back of the block where the oil pressure switch goes, IMO put in a TEE so you can still run the oil pressure switch. for turbo feed you can tee off that again or you can put the oil feed to a port in the side of the head to feed the turbo. either way works.
IMO a sandwhich plate works best but isnt needed
