Back from the mechanic!!! Royal Purple? (J30A1)
The mechanic showed me the pics after taking off the intake manifold. The engine was in excellent condition. Nice mild yellow color, no sludge. The car has 150K miles, by the way.
The car was leaking, so I was just putting high mileage conventional. I fixed that, though.
Now that the car is DOPE FRESH... [All new oil seals (Except the one that goes to the tranny), timing belt, tensioners, some pulley there, front O2 sensor,(will soon replace rear), NGK Sparks, and NGK Spark Wires] ... When you look under the hood it just looks like something newfound. The car is not leaking, at all, so...
I wanted to upgrade to one of the best synthetics in the eyes of a lot of people (I've heard): Royal Purple Synthetic, so I can really preserve the engine and keep it running pretty.
Who's had experience with Royal Purple? Any other recommendations?

I ate some valvetrain **** running Mobile 1. I really dont feel like writing novel (as I have numerous other times on multiple forums), but the issue with US manufactured oils is the EPAs standards on additives such as Zinc dithiophospahate... WHich actuallly impregnate themselves within the friction affected points. Royal purple is INCREDIBLE. I consumed two sets of cams in under 1500 miles using Mobile one.
Predominately on the EX cam (VTEK rockers and lobes were TRASHED) but intales were worn too... I went nuts trying to figuire it out.
Im super **** about clearances and the like... And others had had the same results. I strated doing ALOT of reading.
A good place to start is bobistheoilguy.com
This is what sold me though

After getting educated on the subject of synthetic addities and the US' more stringent EPA policy than abroad, I decided to try the RP...
I will never run anything else again... Over 10K miles with over 600WHP and not 1 issue... Cams look as good as the day I putt them inIve pulled the bottom end apart about 8K to look and the bearings look as gfood as the fday they went in. Inside of the motor looks BRAND NEW. EVERYWHERE!!
Sure was a nice alternative to a 2K dollar ferea roller rocker assy
:O)
