hondata s300 problems w/ live datalogging
Car is a cx eg w/ a ls turbo. It was previously a drag car w/ 800hp and ran 9.85 from the local shop here in kc (Revline) w/ a different set up. The car previously had the same m&w pro10 ign. and crane coil and same ecu. I now have the same ign. setup and I'm having problems with datalogging while the car is running. All I did was hook up the same wires and ecu and ign. like it was before. He didn't have any problems with the setup when owened the car. Any one have any idea what I could check out to see how come it won't datalog live. thanks
The problem is cuased by the aftermarket ignition system. It generates large amounts of interference which disrupts the datalogging signal. I have seen this probelm resolved on a 930hp b-series car by using the stock distributor and ignition system.
i wouldnt go as far as saying it is THE ignition system...but more than likely something in the wiring or some sort of an interference issue due to the wiring or mounting of the components.
i have installed and tuned a ton of cars with the pro10 and NEVER had a data logging problem even using a non resistor plug. however, i have tuned several cars with MSD that i did not install, and i cant get the damn thing to log worth a crap.

Well I'll have to check the connections but it worked before, with the same ign. set up as I have in the same car. Doesn't anyone have a the wiring diagram for the m&w10 to the hondata ecu
Where is the M&W Pro 10 box located? I have the Pro10 on my car, located in front of the passenger shocktower (where Tony1 suggests mounting it), and no problems with datalogging here (yet). On another car, it was mounted on the firewall, and caused all sorts of issues.. I wouldn't suggest running the stock ignition at 900+hp, as you would have to run a REALLY small plug gap to make it anywhere near reliable.. 600-700hp is another story..

To OP have the plugs changed from resistor to non-resistor? I tune 3 of our race cars and if i run non-resistor plugs i get garbage data logs, go back to resistor plugs and all is fine.
Another thing to check for is if the datalog switch is inverted... you would be stuck in perpetual datalogging from the PC as well as the ECU..
