Need advice on how to get 250+ from an all motor h22a4
i have a 99 prelude non sh, i defenitaly want to have 250 plus hp all motor, i alredy have dc headers, spoon cat, catback, and a reformatted ecu, i dont want to boost it, or use nitrous, what is the best upgrade(s) that i can do for my prelude, ust to use as a dd, let me know what yall think
all motor builds should center around your cam choice. do some research to see what might work best for you application. skunk2 pro1's or possibly pro2's would probably be a good start. from there, build around the cam: valvetrain, headwork, intake, tb, im, high quality header (read: $1k+), etc and then get a TUNE. To achieve high n/a numbers, the small things count; do things like get your tb and im port-matched. make sure components compliment each other and your goals. look at pulleys or losing a/c and/or p/s altogether. get rid of your balance shafts for free hp. lightened flywheel and lightweight wheels will also help get the power to ground more efficiently, which can go a long way. a lot of guys on here will also tell you to get a new final drive for more aggressive performance.
an easy research tool is to look at the dyno thread as most people have their mods listed. see what works and what doesn't.

higher compression pistons, ditch the header and get an RMF or SMSP or the like, cams, and most important--proper tuning. I also advise you to read 98Vtec's build thread, very informative.
yep, 250N/A isn't an easy feat. might i add to the list of suggestions:
cams
valvetrain work
Intake / intake manifold (ported and with spacers)
non-restrictive header (RMF, SMSP, Hytech)
non-restrictive exhaust (2.5" all the way through with a testpipe or high flow cat)
high compression pistons
bore out the motor + sleeve it (refer to build by "2point6" who made 300whp n/a)
EMS
other mods you might wanna consider aside from adding power is:
weight reduction
clutch/flywheel setup (accelerate faster, less parasitic drag etc. etc.)
lighter wheels

The easiest way is to boost but you said you don't want to...............
next thing is to stroke it. use a 99 accord crank and rods and f20c pistons.
headwork and exhaust is the next thing but don't expect the car to be quiet unless you run a e-cutout

you also need to determine where you stand as you are now so you can see what kind of power you are going to need to add in order to reach your goal.

Making sure your car breathes properly will be the key. I would recommend having a custom set of headers built that are specific for your specs. Because even custom headers built for a 7500rpm h22 must be different from 8500rpm h22. Also keep in mind that bigger is not always better, things such as a bigger TB can actually lower the VE, which ultimately means you will have to rev higher to achieve the same results.

250+ N/A with our motors is not unachievable but it is costly. For what you would spend to do it N/A you could get a lot more by boosting it even on a stock block. Cams and springs would be the first place to start. Port and Polish the head. Higher compression pistons by golden eagle. Gasket kit obviously since you have to tear the motor down. A good header is the next step. It gets expensive very quickly.
Yeah, it gets very expensive, with what I've spent on my engine so far I could've gotten a nice turbo setup and have some money left, lol , but I love N/A and I suppose you do too.
