Replacing bad Y8 with a Z6, keeping OBD2
Has anyone done this? Only replacement motor I could find that was single cam VTEC, is a Z6 motor. I have the Y8 out, took of intake mani, dist, etc...... The thing that is throwing me is the crank sensor. Has anyone else done this without rewiring the car, can I flush out the old oil pump and bolt it on the Z6 motor? Thus giving me the mounting location for the sensor. HAVE to make this work.
Its been done before. As far as the CKF sensor goes simply perform the CKF fix as seen here ---> http://technet.ff-squad.com/ckftrick.htm
You will also need to build a custom distributor, use the Z6 distributor case and the shaft/bearing plate assembly with the Y8 sensors.

Forgot to add:
Timing will be somewhat off with the OBD2 ECU (I don't know just how far off)
You wont pass emissions in some states
