Yea...im talking about with the distributor. And how do you advance it period. And since you can do it too much how do you know if its a good setting? I guess you just have to play with it? Thanks guys.

Discount Auto Parts, Autozone, Pep Boys, Napa...anywhere should have them. You can probably get one for about $20-$30.
Try this: Retard it all the way (Pully dizzy toward you). Move it up LITTLE BY LITTLE, blipping the throttle (on the intake manifold, pull up a little bit on the throttle cable). You will notice that when it's all the way retarted that it will bog a little bit, and then jump up in RPM's. Keep doing this until it feels 'good'. Good would be that when you blip the throttle, the response is quick, but not instantaneous. I would suggest that if you have never done it before to get the light, but doing it by hand can be done. Just make sure you don't advance it all the way...and if you do advance it too far, you will hear a knocking sound when on the accelerator... If you hear this...stop, and retard it back down a little. That's detonation from being too far advanced, and is a really good way to blow your engine.

got a stock sohc zc. (internals are stock) what is the best degrees to set an aem cam gear? i've only got a header(to rusty, not sure what brand) ebay intake and a apexi world sport exhaust.
When you go to adjust your timing, Mr. S, make sure you having "jumped" the ecu connector by the kick panel on the passenger side. Because you are adjusting the timing at idle speed, you need to jump that connector so the ecu doesn't adjust the timing at all. That connector on my ef is blue with two pins, just so you know.
