Default Clanging in motor?

When its cold and i first start my car, my engine makes this horrible rattling sound but when it warms up after about 15 mins it goes away. It sounds like its coming from around the oil pump/water pump area. I have no idea what this noise is and I want to fix it. Anybody ever had this problem before? Its a B18B1 btw

how long has it been since you did timing belt, water pump and tensioner replacement? If its been a LONG time you might want to think about doing that very soon.

its been awhile. The car the motor came out of sat in a field for like 5 years without being driven, then the guy towed it to the junkyard and thats when i got the motor. Im suprised the timing belt hasnt snapped yet! Im going to change the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and head gasket next weekend.

yeah I would change that stuff. But THose things really dont expand. I would check for piston slap. Before I spent the money and time. How many miles is on the engine? Just my opinion.

my rear motor mount was clanging. the top bolt was a little lose...but i deffinately need a tensioner cause nows its jingling and rattling and all kinds of ****. It sounds 10 times worse now since i decribed it in my first post. My buddies got a spare tensioner in his garage im gonna replace it tomorrow along with a new timing belt ill report the results when i finish.

Could be valve tap as well. Maybe look into getting your valves adjusted.
