Default fast idle block off valve anyone using one?

I have a current issue that happens like 10 times a year were i get a surging idle and it's always cause my fast idle valve gets dirty and has to be cleaned, I found a KMS block off plate on ebay for $25 shiped and my shop said that it would solve this common problem.

Now my question is, is there any downsides to using a block of plate?

Anyone that use's these give me some feedback thanks

Do you live where there is a winter? If so don't remove it.

It adjusts your idle to adjust for cold temps... w/o it the car will idle like crap in cold weather and or not start.

Doing regular engine oil changes and using synthetic oil may reduce the frequent need to clean the FITV, as well as the IACV, IM, and throttle body.

when I swapped my intake manifold and throttle body, the set up did away with the fast idle valve. I had to basically extend the hose that runs into the motor. Its been a constant 5 degrees in the morning here. I haven't had any cold start up problems without it.

i fab'd one up for my gsr and i haven't had any problems yet, and i can run out in the morning start it up and go back inside to let it warm up and it only takes about 5-10 mins to warm up. and its about 28-40* here in MD. just becareful taking the small bolts out of the bottom, if they have never been taken off alot of times the threads are dirty as hell and need some lube. not all the time but it happens.
