Default I think I might of blew my motor?

So, last night I was going about 120MPH (stupid idea) and all of a sudden my engine failed on me on the freeway. I pulled to the side and began to try and start the car again and it just gave me this grinding noise. I checked the oil and I had no oil and forgot to check like a dumby but the maintance required icon never went on even though thats not an excuse. Anyways, the car had to be towed at my house and what not and I don't know what I did.

Did the lack of oil blow my engine? Is my engine even blown? Help please :[

First check that there is fuel in it.

Then jack its up so the wheels are off the ground and put it in N. Pull the spark plugs out and see if you can turn it over by hand.

If its quite easy to turn over do a compression test on each cylinder.

If those check out ok then you havnt blowen it, And maybe just burnt out a bearing.

was the stick dry?? if so theres chance something gave out on you, and sorry i cant determine what it can be since internal parts have to be consistently oiled so what ever gave out did, also other parts must had worn down from this.

Grinding noise? did ya check your tranny fluid? Ive heard of guys melting theyre gears lol. or you blew a bearing and its rolling around your gears. or you blew something in the engine. in which case I hope you didnt dump a ton of money into. WTF were you doing at 120? Even for a silly street race thats pushin it. not to mention DANGEROUS!

Recheck your oil now since the motor is cold, if you already havent. If your oil level is ok then try rotating your crank + do a compression test.

See i feel that most cars and some drivers are very capable of driving down empty highway at 120. Especially with newer cars or modified ones. What kills it for thoes of us who can are the people that go out and do it with out checking their car out first, like for oil or their tires. Then the lawyers get a hold of the situation and that's why we will be stuck driving 65 over abandoned streatches of hightway in the US forever. Wouldn't be surprised if this guy was on H rated tires at the wear bars at about 25 psi, Idiots. Do us all a favor and don't fix your car and stay off the road.

BTW OP i didn't read everything here but your maintenance required light wouldn't come on for low oil. Your oil light might though. if i repeated info sorry.

rod through the block? i've done that road racing before. makes a great ka-bang, oil pours all over the ground. if something locked up the starter should not be able to spin the motor. if the starter still spins, do the compression test.

does your engine crank over or does the starter just grind?
If the motor wont turn over with the starter put it in neutral, remove spark plugs and try turning it over by hand with wrench or socket.
If its hard or doesnt turn over your motor is seized, time for a new one.
If it spins freely ther might still be hope.
Drain ur oil and check for pieces of metal in the oil.
If thers no metal this is good. Now do a compression check.
Bad compression or no compression in a cyl or mutiple will mean u either droped a valve or destroyed a piston.
If u destroyed a piston ur proly gunna wanna replace the motor.
The grinding if its when when the car is cranking over its the starter flywheel or clutch cant be the tranny usless it makes the noise while the car is running since or u have an automatic.

I checked my oil and there was zero left. Did I just answer my own question?

When I meant grinding, I didnt mean as in gears. I meant when I was trying to start the car (the ignition had a grinding or rattling noise).

Well than I'd say you've probably seized something crtical. I'd take it apart and salvage what I could, but your probably looking at starting over with something else.

If there's no oil in the motor. Chance all likely the motor is Seize and Gone. Time to rebuilt or buy another motor.

probably spun a bearing. drop the oil pan and look for tiny shavings. if there are then you spun a bearing.
