Default blower not working

this is a 90 honda accord LX. i've checked the fuse and its fine. it shares the same fuse as the rear window defogger. well the defogger works but the blower doesn't blow any air at any setting. so what could it be??? snow storm coming and i don't want to freeze my butt off in the car.

There should be two fuses controlling the blower motor relay, then there is this relay that could be bad, there is a blower motor speed resistor but it does not control high speed and there is the speed switch in the control head. Do you have a wire diagram and we can help you to figure this thing out.

Check all the fuses under the dash and under the hood until we can figure out which one is which, there is a fuse for the fan which you may have already identified and then there is a fuse for the relay coil that energizes the relay to close the switch to energize the motor. The coil fuse is small, maybe 7.5 amp or 10 amp, the blower motor should be 20 amp or bigger.

quick way to see if its just your blower motor..tap it while you have it on full blast...if it starts turning at all..u just need a new blower motor.

i don't have a wiring diagram. but i guess i could go buy a repair manual??? thanks for the input so far. the fuse that i have checked is located at the driver side kick panel under the dash. i've checked the fuse box under the hood too.

Ok, if you get a Haynes manual make sure there is a wire diagram, there are two fuses involved but you probably have another problem, my online source does not show a diagram for the AC only the radiator fan.

what kind of problem??? rechecked the fuses and they are good. could it be the blower itself? i don't want to buy something that won't fix the problem. driving in the cold sucks. espically when you can't defog the windshield

Check this link out, it may be the relay:

Mr Lewy. Dee Ayy gave you a good suggestion.

The reason the motor will run if hit while turned on full speed is that the motor brushes will be jogged and make contact with the armature.
Then you have fairly good proof that the motor needs replaced.

Beyond that you can check for available power to the blower unit at the plug.[big fat Black/yellow wire]
The switch side of the circuit changes the ground thru the blower resistor.

thank you guys for all of the input. i found the problem. my resistor was corroded (sp?) I replaced that and the blower works now. no more suffering in the freakin cold anymore. thank you all again.

The resistor connector was corroded, is this correct, High speed does not use the resistor, but I am not sure off of the top of my head if the high speed wires goes through that connector, if it does, as it seems to, then it all makes sense.

Without seeing the connector, I will guess that the wire does go to the connector but maybe it doubles back out so it appears to have two wires, the same color of course, on that specific pin of the connector, can you verify please just for clearity, does anyone have a picture available of any kind. What I am saying, is that the wire goes to the connector but may not go through the connector for high speed, sorry to be repetitive.

I just have a problem with this connector being corroded at the resistor and no high speed operation.
