97 Civic CX hatch Engine Light!
Ive had my car off the road for 2 weeks now, I just got it air cared the day I took it off the road, which was 2 fridays ago, and it was running perfectly fine.
I was bored just now so I decided to go start up my car ( and do it every once and a while to keep the battery good ).
The first thing i noticed it was idleing rough. Not to sure how to describe it, besides rough.. maybe a little boggy.
Sure enough the engine light comes on and stays steady and I shut it off right away. Going to check under the hood, I lift it up and the first/only thing I notice is the smell off gas.
I have now checked the ECU. it flashes 16 times which is fuel injectors. a few of my friends said to run fuel injector cleaner.. any of you guys had this problem? if so what have you done

are the injectors leaking, cuz you mentioned the smell of fuel? It's not hard to take them out and clean them, theres a little filter in each one, maybe you have one or more thats plugged up?.?
In all fairness to the OP i'm not aware than any of my local parts stores will check codes. Its generally a $50 - $60 at a garage kinda thing, which is why its kind of a no brainer to pick up a code reader when canadian tire has them on sale. NAPA might do it, not sure, I hardly ever go in because their prices are so ridiculous.

I couldn't tell you all the chains in the US which will scan for free. I'd have to call them.
Start calling parts stores up and ask if they'll scan codes for a check engine light.
