Default throttle stays open

been having problems with my gsr, and lately when i took it out to see if it was running right, i floored it, reved it to about 7k, and let go of the gas, but the revs didnt drop past 4,5k. but it only does it while im moving. i did it today in neutral and it dropped fine.

it stayed there, so i disengaged the clutch, turned off the engine (while still moving), turned it back on, and it was still doing it. i played around with the pedal, and it would rev fine, but wouldnt drop. i left it alone, and tried driving it back home while the car reving at 4,5k, and finally it just dropped back to normal.

drives just fine, but if i floor it, and it revs past 5k, it'll stick.

i checked if there were any vaccum leaks around the intake manifold, and it looked fine. throttle cable looks fine.

check the throttle plate for carbon build-up. it may be sticking open. also check the spring on the throttle body where the cable attaches too-it should snap back quickly when you open it all the way and let it go.

x2 Definitely clean out your throttle body. Mess around with your throttle cable as well and listen for changes in rpm.

cleaned the TB last week while i was messing around with the idle (had a bad idleing problem), and i'll have to check the cable. i replaced my last one cause it bent, and this one is about a month old.

my throttle return spring looks good. i was playing around with it, and it snaps back good.

is there any chance a bad TPS, or something electrical that could cause this? i have a very small idling problem still, it jumps from like 900rpm, to like 1,1krpm, so maybe these 2 are related?

do you have a short ram intake?

this might sound silly but my friends tb got stuck open one time. we were like wtf?

we took off the intake pipe to see a metal cap from the underside of the intake filter wedged in the throttle body. luckily it was too big to go through the throttle body.
