Re: my gas pedal sticks . . . (mr poo)
i'd say spray the whole pedal assembly down with a silcon spray then check throttle cable (it may be going bad), carbon build up in the throttle body not allowing the butterfly to close the whole way

Re: my gas pedal sticks . . . (doublejz)
it sticks when its the throttle body is closed, so occassionally i'll have to press very hard on the pedal just to get it open.
what should i check my throttle cable for?

are you letting the car warm up. i have this problem as well, but discovered that when i let it warm up for about 3 - 4 minutes the problem doesn't exsist. and yes i cleaned the throttle body, sprayed it down w/lube, as well as where the cable hooks to the t/b, and it still was doing it untill i learned to let it warm up first.

you guys are all on the wrong track. It is soft carbon sticking the TB butterfly to the housing. Take off your intake tube, open the throttle wide open, take some carb/brake clean on a rag and wipe down the butterfly and all the carbon deposits inside the TB

Check for a recall on your car, I've had a friend that brought his honda in because his gas pedal was being caught. I think they fixed it by removing some of the carpet behind the pedal. here it is
1998 Honda Civic OTHER
Recall Date: 05/10/1999
Summary:
EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: ACCESSORY DRIVER-SIDE FLOOR MATS USED IN 1996-1998 HONDA CIVIC VEHICLES. DUE TO THE SHAPE OF THE FLOOR ON THESE VEHICLES, A MISPOSITIONED FLOOR MAT COULD INTERFERE WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.
Consequence:
THE FLOOR MAT COULD PREVENT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FROM RETURNING TO THE IDLE POSITION.
Remedy:
IF A CUSTOMER HAS A GENUINE HONDA DRIVER-SIDE FLOOR MAT, DEALERS WILL INSTALL A POSITIVE FLOOR MAT RETENTION SYSTEM CONSISTING OF A GROMMET IN THE FLOOR MAT AND A PIN BRACKET IN THE CAR.
Potential Units Affected: 943005
Notes: Honda Civic

Might be a recall on that..

Ya i had this prob too. U may want to remove the entire thorttle body use carb cleaner and physically remove that carbon with a cloth of something. I did this, and no more pedal stick.

Ture, it could be carbon build up, but I've seen it on new TB's, and it's usally lose TB cable, also lubing the TB rotor helps, you might have to lube it a few times.

yeah, see i did that, not the solution. also checked the cable, did as it can be. i have noticed when i let the car warm up i don't have this problem at all.

Try lube on the TB rotor like jdm_bones said to do, this worked for me...And it will take a few times to lube, it just wont go away!
