You can purchase a test light, cheap and effective for what your doing. You could also make one with any 12v bulb, one end to ground and the other to the + wire your testing.

You must ground the test light for it to work, connect the "clip" part to a ground point in the car, [same place amp is grounded] then touch the probe, ["ice pick"] to the wire/cable you want to test, the test light should light up.

Try it at the batt. first, clip to one batt. terminal and probe to the other terminal, the test light will light up. 94

You rem wire is probably not continuous if this is happening or it is grounding somewhere. Run a new one.

Ditto the above^^^.

Also you can do a quick test, disconnect the remote at the amp, [just in case it is a short] and use a jumper lead from the amps batt. power terminal to the remote terminal, amp should turn on. 94

Great idea....but if you do this PLEASE and I cannot stress this enough..
use a fused (3-5a) lead. That way if the amp is in fault/protect mode it will blow the fuse
and not kill the amp.

I have seen this happen way to many times before when you don't know what the cause
of an amp failure is.
