Default Vtec Not Working...Very Frustrated

Okay guys, I hope someone here can help me with this, Ive Researced all over the internet, and only found a couple of bs threads regarding this matter. I am running a D15B7 block with approx 360k (yeah this is why i love Hondas) with a D16Z6 Head (and yes I removed the oil jet between the 2nd and 3rd cylinders when i swapped the head) It took me a while to source a decent ECU, therefore I didnt have vtec for a long time, when i finaly got a chipped P75 with a P28 basemap, I wired the soilenoid and oil pressure switch (solenoid to A4, OP to D6, grounded other wire on switch), started the car, let it warm up, drove mildly towards the highway, then got down on the throttle, right at 4700 RPM my CEL came on and stayed one untill I shut the car down, problem repeats itself any time it try to engage vtec. Pulled the code from a Snap-On Ventus scanner, Vtec Oil Pressure switch. Thinking running for so long without vtec might have burned up the OP switch, I replaced the whole solenoid with one from a 94 Ex that worked prior to removal (saw it with my own eyes) Same problem still repeats itself. Ive checked resistance in all 3 wires involved in the vtec solenoid, no resistance at all. Oil level is dead on, and I even changed it with hopes of change to no avail. Can someone tell me what Im doing wrong. I just want vtec to work so the kid who wants my engine will buy it, giving me the extra cash i need to start with a clean B18b. Help, I want out of this single cam hell!!!

is a p75 a vtec ecu? Regaudless of whether or not you have a p28 chip the ecu might be like WTF when you hit vtec. You need to find someone with a p28 and swap it in and go for a ride to see if that clears up your problem. Its gotta be an ECU thing, because if you have vtec wired correctly then everything should work.

If they didn't convert the P75 to a VTEC ECU ... then all the basemaps in the world aren't going to save your bacon.

P75's are LS (B18B1) non-VTEC ECU's.

Okay, the ecu is a chipped P75 a friend of mine loaned me when my old P06 died. He was running a B18b Turbo setup, I figured if i swapped his chip for one with a P28 map on it it would essentially make the ECU a p28...am I correct? If im wrong ive been misinformed by several people...Thanks for the suggestion tho, I will borrow a friends P28 and give it a try

You are indeed wrong. The ECU has to be hardwired for VTEC as well as have the proper map.

Thanks for the help, I completely overlooked the fact that my friend had a non-vtec LS, and probably didnt install the vtec conversion kit from xenocron. Thanks for the help guys
