Default Q: D16y8 swap using D16y7 ecu

hi, i did tons searching but couldnt find the answer im looking for. i just swap a d16y8 motor into my 97 hatch. im running the d16y7 ecu, wiring harness, tb, iacv.
my question is do i HAVE to remove the D16y8 iacv form th back of the manifold? since im not using it (im using the iacv from the DX TB) ? im trying to break down the possible problems as to why my car sometimes feel like it goes into limp mood under load.

EDIT:
97 civic DX hatch ( manual)
D16y8 manual swap
Y7 parts used: dizzy, spark plug wire, tb, wiring harness, ecu, alt, exhaust mani
Things i checked: all grounds ( tranny, engine, coolant). i even swap the whole tb off another DX engine. still the same

the iacv or idle air control valve has nothing to do with going in limp mode under acceleration!! do you have any dtc's??

i don't think you should use the y7 ecu w/y8. y8 has vtak which y7 ecu can't control.

what?! of coarse you can a y7 ecu with a y8!!! you just need to an rpm activated switch for vtec............ sure you can remove it, if you can find a plug... again doooood ! this has nothing to do with why your car is having your issue!!! be alil more specific, if it was in limp mode it would be throwin codes man!!!

Yeah, that really doesn't work, high lift cam profile will engage but the fuel and timing maps wont change and you wont make any more power after the vtec engagement point. The fact is without a vtec ECU you really can't run vtec properly.

i had this problem...., what you have to do is block off the iacv port on the y8 intake manifold and connect the y7 iacv and zip tie it to the fire wall so it will still be active according to the ecu. other than that find a p2p ecu!

It really wasn't an opinion. An RPM activated switch will not properly control vtec. PERIOD. You are right in that it doesn't have anything to do with the OPs problem.

hmm. well first off i dont care about vtec. i JUST want the car to run. and being in NY, we cant pass inspection if i convert to obd1 using a p28 OR run a Y8 ecu because ill throw a code for a gas tank pressure sensor or somthing like that.
again back on topic.
i blocked off and remove the IACV off the y8 mani.
test driving it.
1) i noticed that the car " bounce off the rev" at 2k.
2) the car runs good at cold start up
3) if i let the rpm drop low enough ( NOT to the point that it stalls), the cars start to bogg, and if i press on the throttle even just a little WHILE its bogging, the car stalls out.
ill update the first post to see if anyone can point anything out.

do you have a y7 manifold? get an automatic y8 intake mani and it has the connection for a 3 wire iacv as on the y7. or maybe its just on the TB. yea its on the TB, get a y8 auto Tb maybe?
