Re: BOV.... would your recommend this postion of piping?
Well i was lookin into the arcived post and read somthing about placing the BOV in a different postion to. this one guy said that:
-"instead of mounting the BOV in the charge piping like always you should mount it lower (were the filter of a CAI would be---air box) this way your BOV will be 3 times louder"
is this true and would you recommed it?

Mine is in the bumper too.....it is way louder from the outside then when it was in the engine bay. One of the supra guys said they all put it there so i tried it.....sounds tough as nails...although I must admit it can't be the most efficient place to put it....I think ideally it should be placed as close to the throttle body as possible. I haven't seen any adverse performance effects however.

what do you mean on the bumper? do you mean after the intercooler...almost to the ground? can you post a pix of what it actually looks like?
it's near the TB so thata the pressure wave doesnt hit the throttle body as hard...
with the bov close to the i/c, the pressure wave from a closed tb has to travel the whole lenght of the pipe back to the bov... if it's close to the TB the pressure is released much faster and doesnt have to travel that far..
if that makes sense...
<---- jake logic..

it shouldn't really matter where you mount. Just mount it somewhere you can adjust the damn thing
I know I would hate to take off the bumper everytime I needed to adjust the spring in the BOV

It's not a huge deal, but if you think about it, whatever distance the BOV is away from the throttle body, the compressed air in that piping has to decompress and flow [i]backwards[/b] out to the bov, then as the BOV closes, the air has to reverse direction and go back toward the TB. When you look at it this way, it simply CAN'T be as efficient or as quick acting. Whether the results are noticeable or not is completely open for debate.
just get 2 bov's...one for the bumper so you can be as loud and noticable as possible, so no one will race you, and another by the TB so you don't ruin your car/turbo !
my BOV was welded right near the TB pointing downwards. i faced it towards my firewall, because i figured if i had the opening of the bov face towards the front of the car there might be compressor surge? heh anyway, you could hear me blow-off a block away. hope that helps.
