Default Using SeaFoam products on a car that burns oil?

Hey guys, i'm trying to get another year or so out of my EG Civic with a 1.5L D series motor in it, recently it's been having a few problems here and there but today it seems like i've adressed all the problems and it's running decent again

this car burns a decent amount of oil, i'd say i go through a 4L jug topping it up here and there over the period of like.. 2 months?

so i'm asuming the valve seals/rings are gone/going etc. Do u guys think I would cause the problem to get worse if i did a seafoam cleaning of my motor?

i recently did it on another car i bought, and it seemed to work great! but that car did not burn any oil

do u think if i use somthing like seafoam it could cause the burning oil to get worse since carbon deposits and other gunk may be the only thing preventing even more oil from getting into my cylinders?

Also has anyone ever used this Lucas Oil Stabalizer?

it claims "Keeps Old Engines Alive, and new engines new!"

ive heard its pretty good, but how do i go about mixing it in when i do an oil change? it says "In Badly worn engines use up to 60%" and this bottle I have is 946ML, do i substitute a portion of the new oil i put in with this stabalizer?

cleaninig out the deposits holding the engine together is not a good idea. IF ANYTHING, find some rislone oil additive and use that till the thing dies. your not looking for a fix but your looking for a band-aid.

Seafoam is an injector cleaner

im in a similar position - burning way too much oil.

if anyone has a better "band-aid" worth trying, please give the details!

I tried engine restore - seemed to do little to stop it from burning so I wont use it again.

It's definitely not a good idea to flush a high milage motor with anything if you haven't done it regularly in the past. All that gunk and deposits are helping eveything seal.

If all you're trying to do is get another year out if it just buy the cheapest oil you can find.

I wouldn't use the Seafoam. If anything, it could make your problem even worse.

As for the Lucas Oil Stabilizer, that stuff is BS. In fact, all those products that claim to reduce oil burn off are ****. Trust me, I've tried them.

Your best bet is to do a rebuild, hell... you can find used D motors for CHEAP.

Don't waste your money on gimmicks. Just use the cheapest oil you can find.

yah, personally i wouldn't use seafoam for anything other than an injector/cylinder cleaner, i wouldn't want to even try running a liquid that thin through my oil (but then again, the car i have now is turboed, and it would screw it over entirely), seafoam does make a good injector cleaner and carbon cleaner for cylinders though
