I have swapped a D16y8 into my 1994 civic dx and was wondering if i can run a obd 2 ecu or what needs to be done to do this ???

 

You could do that if you buy the Obd1 to Obd2 convesion harness, but I would just run a p28 in it that has been chipped and put a y8 basemap on it.

 

i have a stock p28 in it now and it seems to run fine i was jus wondering if the obd2 ecu would run better cause my seems to run rich

 

it might but if you want to get it a little more lean, you can unscrew the 2 screw for the TPS a little and twist it. One way will get it richer the other will make it more lean, you have to mess with it for a min. but it'll help you out.

what the???? PLEASE Don't do this. the TPS is not used to determine fuel. (it actually is but not in that way)

If you feel you have too much fuel going in it may be a sign that your O2 is going bad. That is if you don't have a CEL set.... you don't right?

You can run an OBD2 ECU on your OBD1 car but it's going to be a pain, easier to get a JDM OBD2 ECU that matches your engine, or chip the P28 and have it tuned.

read a chiltons manual, it'll show you that you can do this

read a Helm(honda manual), or read about how the ECU uses the TPS, this will show you that you shouldn't do this.

moving the TPS will only cause the ECU to think that it's not at idle, causing richer or leaner conditions at idle. Which is a patch, but a very poor one.
It will also make the ECU think that your throttle is in the wrong position at all times, which will likely defeat the fuel cut on decel(loose mpg), make your idle choppy and unstable and could cause a CEL at WOT or at idle depending on how far you adjust it. There are other things improper TPS setting will cause but I'll leave it at that. (search TPS setting to find many people on here that have had TPS problems and setting it correctly solved them)

FERIO916 - if the Y8 runs rich on the P28, you may want to look into the engine, it should run it fairly close to right.
To get closer, have the P28 chipped with the right maps it will run a lot better, just stay away from the crap ebay chips.

DO NOT DO THIS.... adjusting tps well either cause your rpm to rev more or drop thus causing it to run more lean or rich but at the same time your motor wouldnt be running right.. if your gonna adjust tps then your gonna need an volt meter and measure it..

 

If you all would read the first post I put on here, it will show you that I told him to run a chipped p28 with a y8 basemap, YOU all can say whatever you like, but I have actually done this with my tps, and I do know that it works...

well your actually right but then again you should measure it with a multimeter just incase.. usually they tell you to stay within 600-900 if I remember.. so you dont want to go above that number or below.. but I dont think its a good idea to adjust it by ear without measuring it and seeing the numbers.. Id say if you want to adjust it by ear then get a flat head screw driver and turn the screw on the throttlebody

 

Yeah, def. shouldn't do it by ear, I kinda shoulda put that huh lol.. sorry.
