94 gsr motor into 96 civic, what is needed for harness?
i have a 96 civic dx. i want to put a 94 gsr motor in. there is no wiring harness in the car from the engine bay to where the ecu sits. what wiring harness is needed to finish this swap? any help is greatly appreciated. thank you
use the gsr engine harness (that way you know everything hooks up) and if needed use a ecu conversion harness. hope this helps

wrong... you cant use an integra or eg harness in an ek.. however you have other options:
since your motor is obd1 and your car is obd2a you have these options:
d16y7 harness or any MANUAL 96-00 civic harness but it will need modifications but its REALLY REALLY easy.. well to me anyways..
d16y8 harness which has all the mods done already so you just plug and play but you still have to add IAB(secondary butterflies) you have to convert your injector plugs to 1 wire or obd1, and change your alternator plugs to an obd1.
99-00 civic si harness but then your gonna need a conversion adapter harness for your ecu if you plan on using a obd1 ecu. so obd2b===>obd1 and your gonna have to swap the alternator plugs and fuel injector plugs. (too much work)
and if you plan on using an obd1 ecu then your gonna have to buy an adapter harness obd2a===obd1
your car is a dx therefore the motor is a d16y7
make sure its MANUAL and Obd2a 96-98

Ok, i'm going to try to make this as simple as possible.
- '96 - '98 EX Manual harness.
- Injectors, you have 2 options:
-Option 1 - Cut the injector clips/plugs off and solder on OBD1 versions
-Option 2 - Get a set of used OBD2 B18 injectors. (I perfer this personally)
- Distributor You have 3 options:
-Option 1 - OBD2A B-series GS-R/B16/ITR distributor.
-Option 2 - OBD1 GS-R distributor case, shaft and bearing assembly, coil and igniter with OBD2A CYP/CKP/TDC sensors from any civic/integra OBD2A distributor.
-Option 3 OBD2A to OBD1 distributor adapter harness.
- Alternator 3, possibly 4 options:
-Option 1 - Use an OBD2 B-series alternator
-Option 2 - Swap an OBD2 voltage regulator into the OBD1 B-series distributor (the voltage regulator can be taken from an OBD2 D-series alternator.
-Option 3 Cut and splice an OBD1 Plug onto your engine harness. (I really don't like this method)
-Possible 4th option, OBD2 to OBD1 alternator conversion harness (I'm just not positive they exist)
- ECU Options:
-JDM OBD2A P72 ECU (USDM ECUs will look for sensors that will be missing
-Jumper harness + OBD1 P72 ECU
-Jumper harness + OBD1 Chipped P28 or P30
- '96 - '98 EX Manual harness.

Right... You try using anything but a '96 - '00 civic harness in a '96 - '00 civic and let me know how that works for you. '96 - '00 Civic harnesses are one piece. '92 - '95 civics and '94 - '01 integras are a 2 piece design and are compatible with each other, including being able to use an OBD2 engine harness in an OBD1 civic or integra. Unless you fully grasp the concept of what your talking about its probably a bad idea to tell someone else they're full of ****.

dud are you dumb or did you just not read what he wrote he said there id no wiring under the dash so he can put in any wiring he wants

*sigh* what the OP said was: <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by tommyboy042281 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">there is no wiring harness in the car from the engine bay to where the ecu sits.</TD></TR></TABLE>
In an OBD2 civic this would be the engine harness its one piece, it goes straight from the engine to the ECU. OBD1 civics and all '94 - '01 integras use a completely different 2 piece harness harness. They don't freaking fit. if you look at a '96 - '00 civic harness you will notice that it has a plug connecting it to the underdash harness. OBD1 civics and all '94 - '01 integras are hardwired to the underdash harness. And just to clarify the OP does have an underdash harness, he is only lacking an engine harness, which you would have seen had you read the first post.

I did not say that.. ill give you a million bucks if you can get an integra or eg engine harness and use it on a 96-00 ek with little modification. LISTEN TO ME! I AM THE BIBLE!
