alpine type r 12' 4ohm
as the tittle says i jus recently bought an alpine type r 12 inch 4 ohm subwoofer dual voice coil and i was wondering if i can or anyone show me how to lower the ohm on these sub so i can hit louder and im using a hifonics 1200 watts amp?thanx in advance
There is no way to alter the ohm load of the subwoofer voice coils. With that said, your sub will support 500watts RMS! As stated before on your other post "The amp is 900watts @ 2ohms. You probably will not use 1200watts @ 1ohm." If you were able to lower the ohm load you would very likely destroy the sub, that would be stupid right? So to be clear, wire the sub as stated below in the diagram(2-ohm load), then turn the gain on the amp down to match the subs capability.

If you want it to be louder there are no shortcuts; you would need to buy an additional subwoofer. And even then, wiring the subs to an lower ohm load, say 1-ohm, would not be advisable for distortion purposes.

correct... the only way you could lower the ohm to max your amps potential would be to get another 4 ohm sub and run them together... otherwise 2 ohm
