Default Alpine type S amp recommendation

I just aquired a Alpine Type S 12' sub, What should I use to power this? and do I need a cap? Something good, yet around 100-120...

94 What Type S 12", 1242D or 1222D, [DVC 4 ohm or DVC 2 ohm]?

They are both 300W "RMS" subs so you will need an amp that will make 300W RMS into 2 or 8 ohms, [1242D] or 300W RMS into 1 or 4 ohms, [1222D] 350-400W rms would be better.

A mono block sub amp would be best, although for $100 your not going to find much in the way of a "quality" amp, unless used.
