Default D16y8 Head on D16z6 Block

Im planning on swpaping out the d16z6 head on my car and putting a d16y8 head on it.

What all has to bo done in order for this to work?

your going to need 9 d16y8 arp's and 1 z6 arp. (need to put the one where the vtec sylenoid is located nearest) it might be the other way around lol, i cant remember exactly all i nkow is that you need 9 of one and 1 of the other.

your going to need a obd1-obd2 (or 2b) distributor conversion harness

run the nicer y8 head gasket.

why are you doing this? just out of curiousity, i did a y8 head to z6 head a couple months ago

reason is cause the z6 head on my motor is junk.


and i have heard that is does raise the compression slightly.

the y8 is built for a little lower end torque, i dont konw about the cr thing though.

whats junk about the z6 head?

I have heard tht the z6 head is the better of the two. Not to sure why? I run a complete Z6 with a y8 intake mani and it was faster than my buddys y8 with 80k on it. But now mines boosted

the flow of the y8 IM is better than the z6's. the reason they say to use the y8 gasket is because its a metal HG

whats wrong with the z6 head? if your willing to sell it for the price of shipping i will send cash. i need one for a build
