Default Help me blow $3500

I have a 94 B18B in an LS. I have had my ideas for my custom turbo setup for awhile now... But I wanted to hear ideas from members in this forum before I started buying my parts. Here's what I'm set up for right now:

- Inlinepro Manifold
- Drag Kit minus FMU/Pump/Oil Return/Manifold/WG
- Inlinepro SS Oil Return Kit
- Hondata 2b w/ Base MAP
- RC 440's
- Tial 35mm WG
- Fabricated 3" DP/Thermal Exhaust

Basically, question is go with this? It seems to be all quality parts. Would you guys suggest to ditch the drag kit and get all custom piping, intercooler, BOV, and Turbo? I'm buying everything in one lump sum sometime next week. Leaving for college in August though. Should I wait?

For all that its going to be more than 3500. If you do go custom just make sure you have a local place that can do all the piping for you. Also with a 3'' dp you are prone to boost creep. I say since you're getting a inline pro mani might as well just go all custom but thats if you know everything to get. You might want to go with dsm injectors just to save money too.

by the drag 3 from importparts and upgrade to the tial and then spend the other 500 on the hondata and theres your 3500 w/some to spare

Email the guys at http://www.hondasaver.com, selling Rev Hard Kits for $2960. Better than DRAG.

You could do that if u piced together the turbo kit urself instead of buying a DRAG kit. Will they even let you buy it minus that stuff?

RevHard hm? I like it. I'm going to look into that. I know I'll spend some more with all of this - but I'll see how things work out. I just gotta start getting on the phone.

PS: I don't have a paypal account.

Yeah, do some research on the Rev Hard, from what I've heard the number it produces are quite a bit more impressive than DRAG and the reliability is unmatched. Keep in touch with me, I'm planning on buying one soon too, let me know what you find out. Only downside to them is they run at 9psi stock, which for me is a little high on my stock motor, so I'll probably invest in a boost controller and run it lower for daily driving, other than that they sound like a damn good setup.

you cant lower the boost past the 9psi wastegate spring...you could only raise it. If you want to run lower boost your gonna need to get a different wastegate spring

What determines the boost setting? If I get the TIAL upgrade will it make a difference?

yes it will make a difference...the spring inside of the wastegate determines the boost settings..usually when you order the tial youll have a choice of which spring but you can always get a lower boost spring for the wastegate in the kit...talk to the seller he should be able to get you one...especially if your buying from the groupbuy, hondasavers are good guys...hth

The drag kit and rev hard are nearly identical.

Shadow- do you have dyno numbers since installing and/or tuning (if you have)? Thats kind of a small intercooler, is that the standard one that comes with it? What BOV is that?

No dyno numbers yet, waiting on injectors before I get any tuning done. The intercooler was standard in the older rev hard kits (mine was bought used) Its a starion, small is good, less pressure drop and the design is very good. The BOV is a Vortech BOV.... vortech bov is crap only flutters no matter what but it does its job just doens't sound pretty thats all... and its only good up to 8psi but whatever I'm happy

get a DRAG3 kit and upgrade the oil return lines with some stainless steel lines and fittings from viren at vsracing (b18bturbo). he sells the return lines for $75. get the tial wastegate upgrade if you dont want the deltagate. or you can always sell the deltagate and get a tial 35mm cheap from viren as well.

all the people who hate on DRAG3 kits dont know what they are talkin about. revhard kits dont even come with air filters and their intercooler piping aint bling blingin like DRAGs. DRAG and REVHARD kits are both good kits... dont hate. its all preference.

gauges and tiny things - boost controller, turbo timer. etc.. All that stuff I'm not so much worried about.. I just want to get the essentials down. I'll probably cost another grand for all of the tiny gadgets and gizmos plus an exhaust.

And then I gotta tune it all. Christ.

Also with a 3'' dp you are prone to boost creep.
Would you mind explaining this to me? I can't figure out why a large diameter dp will cause boost creep. the only thing that might cause u boost creep with this is a poorly designed closed loop system wastegate dump tube. if the bend is too sharp, wg gases have to fight their way out into the dp with high speed exhaust gases rushing past. With a dump tube that eases into the dp with a nice bend that goes with the direction of spent exhaust gases, you won't have boost creep. Unless i've overlooked something obvious, i have no reason to believe that a 3 inch dp alone will cause you boost creep.
