those boosted who run MSD
of course stock ignition is the best... but im just curious to know if any of you experienced better times, acceleration, response time, or other things that benefitted your boosted application. i found a good deal on a 6a and im wonderin if it will help at all.
i got an Digital 6,the car starts quicker, feels like it runs smoother and it did improve in Gas Milage by like 2 mpg but unfortunately i didnt make any before and after ET runs to see if there was any diff
i run a 6al because it has the rpm port to you can add things like 2step and what not, i like it because i am running it with an external coil, because stock honda coils are great for stock stuff and lightly modified, but one you start spinning it high and needing a hotter spark you should upgrade,
the only problem is this stuff is happening in the cumbustion chamber so you never know if its doing what it says, you just use your butt dyno and say yeah its alittle stronger or i get better gas mileage.
but the idea of this ignition upgrades is sound, stock honda coils cant hold alot of power and are not made for high horespower applications, so you make your choice.
ohh and to answer your questions
better acceleration-yes(but not neck snapping)
off idle response time-yes
better time on the track-not sure(havent gotten back up to the track)
but i will say this as by what i have been told by people in my town when i race them, and i use my 2 step......they say its the most intimidating thing they have heard, some get scared and miss the light, its kind of funny

I actually noticed a fair difference when I added a 6a to my 86 Civic D15 turbo. I was running 10psi with no intercooler and a Boost Timing Master, set at about .8deg/lb of retard. With the 6a box, the car pulled stronger at high rpms on hot days. Before it, I would lose power at high rpm on really hot days. It also helps some in keeping me from fouling plugs (too much fuel).

It is a two-step rev limiter. The digital 6 has a high and low rev limiter. It normally uses the high one until power is supplied to the low limiter wire and then it switches. Some guys have it hooked up to there windshield washer spray or the clutch switch that needs to be engaged to start the car. That way you can keep on the throttle and build boost and the MSD will keep the car at 3000rpms or whatever you have it set for. And yes it is loud.
yes, MSDs work. i have a msd 6200 that is as old as dirt, and everytime i think it might be the culprit of ignition gremlins, it never is. It works good as hell, and it definately makes an increase in mileage/drving/accelerating/smoothness. The 6200 was the best 4$ i think i spent on my car (i traded it for a hamburger...)
thanks for the feedback. im gonna get me a MSD and a 2step.
why not get the MSD Digital 6 plus already has a 2step function built in

thats why.
i noticed qucker revs, smoother running. my belts even started squeaking after i installed it. it was the day after, i would drop to a lower gear and punch it and they squeak for a sec. i only have the 6a no external coil. i say at least get the 6a
I run the Digtial 6, HVC Blaster Coil, and msd wires
I have noticed that the car runs smoother, and the throttle response is better.
I it all for my nitrous setup now I am looking to go turbo so all is good.

i have a 6al and blaster ss coil. i took them out a while back because i thought they were causing some problems. i actually thought the stock ignition ran smoother after going back to it. since i am going to be upping my boost to 14 psi, i think i may go back to it!
