got msd 6a laying around...should i put it on?
i got msd 6a(box, blaster coil, cap) laying around off of some trades...should i put it on my stock gsr when i add the turbo kit in 2 weeks?....you guys think it would help any or hurt any? i havent looked into msd and ignition stuff so much...i know honda ignition is good up to few hundred hp but im just wondering since its just laying around there....wondering if i should just put it on or sell it as of rite now cause i here alot of people say its a waste of money buying msd and stuff when its not necessary...let me know guys

ive seen a stock ignition make well over 500.... if ur stock ignition is in good shape, id say, keep it simple....

The msd only provides multiple sparks per event up to about 3000 rpm, so you might experience some gains there, maybe a little better economy. It would be interesting to see a dyno comparison with and without. I just removed mine because I thought it might be defective, it turns out I had another problem, I may, or may not put it back on...I haven't decided yet...

Re: (Boondock Saint)
thanks for the responses...i would like to see dyno results also...yea i read alot of cars made alot of power on the stock ignition...i kinda want to keep it simple too...yea i was wondering if it would like make everything feel smoother ignition wise....like when i put in new better spark plugs and everything, it helped alot...so i was thinking that maybe the msd would make it even better....any other comments

Re: (BseriesHybrid)
havent looked into this ignition stuff yet....i dont even know how much this setup is worth....only thing i know about msd is that it provides multiple sparks to prevent misfire or something around there and gives better gas mileage some say...anything else that this system can do for me? im going to be boosting pretty soon in 2 weeks so...and will this do any good on crappy 91 octane CA gas or does the gas not have anything to do with it?

I say put it on... it wouldn't hurt since you already have it.... I had a misfire problem with my stock ignition at 400whp but after the msd install, the misfire went away... could be my ignition coil was weak, but the msd took care of it.

With 7psi... I would just keep the stock ignition... just keep it simple and one less thing that would break.

I tok mine off after two distributors (dam things are expensive) my tuner couldnt figure out what was wrong with my car my boost kept breaking up and it ended up being a bad distributor; i was one running the digitial 6 we took it off the car and my numbers on the dyno didn't change one bit; but if anyone is interested mine digital 6 is just laying around. I,m guessing you would see it do some work for your real high HP cars. So i would say just leave it out mine just gave me a headach!
and the install is very simple just running a few wires power ground and then i think 3 or four to your distributor.(very simple)
