Hey, everyone. I've been shifter kart racing for a bit and love it! But, I gotta say I'm a drag racer by nature. So, I decided that I'm going to try time attack first.
I wanted to get some opinions on which chassis to use? I've got a 96' Acura Integra that I could play with and I also have a 93 Honda Civic DX. Both are still virgins. I can get it caged in a week as soon as I make up my mind. I'm definitely going to use a K-series engine. I'm using the K24 in my drag car now and I'm very fimiliar with these engines.
What do you think?

the civic would be lighter if you stripped both, but it's all up to your preference
most parts are interchangeable between both chassis

The Civic will be easier to get to a lower weight, but the Integra will be more stable at high speeds. Either will be fine. The other big difference I see would be interior room; the Civic will have more headroom if you're tall. I don't know what a time attack has to do with drag racing though...
personal preference but I'd build the DC car. stability at high speeds is also a big plus..if u were building for autocross id say EG.
Lighter weight is much much better. That stability talk is a non issue with a god setup. You're not going to be racing at 150+ anyways! But if you get creative you can get a DC2 way down on weight to require balast. Heck I've seen DC5's and EP3's sub 2200lbs.

Thanks for the info so far guys
I figured that the DC2 chassis would be the better pic. Then I thought about weight as well, because we all know that the EG is a litghter. But, I guess I'd rather sacrifice a little bit of weight for handling and stability.
What type of suspension are you guys using right now on these types of set ups?

we may not be pushing 150+ but with enough power and a large sweeper into a long straight; it isn't out of the question! So i will take any bit of added stability i can get.
So as far as weight goes; get whatever chassis you are using as light as possible and get it corner weighted and dialed in. It is my theory that if i cant get it lighter have it make some more power to even out the HP/LB ratio.
as far as suspension I am running a full coil over with a 13k front 16k rear spring rate. So far just a 22mm rear swaybar (but we will be moving to a speedway bar next season). I am running very large tires (245) tho that create a large lever to move the suspension bits.

The fast guys and top-running H1 guys are near 150 at VIR, so its not something to leave out of the equation. The Modified Magazine car has done some testing with aero stuff and shown improvements in stability as well.

Yeah, I ended up with the Integra. Aero, stability and look's, I definitely like it better then the EG. I've always been a fan of the old Real Time Type R's.
What coilover's are you guys usually running? I've looked into the Koni's, Tein's and etc... Wish I could afford Moton's or Ohlin's. Lol...
