Have a 92 Civic , car wont start, sounds like it wants to, makes a reving noise. I'm thinking it's the alternator. Anyone know how much for a rebuilt one and how hard it is to install.

I your alternator was no longer charging, you'd have gotten a battery light. Aside from charging the battery, the alternator has nothing to do with starting the car.

If you get a series of "clicks" when you turn the key, the battery is low. Jump it. If you get a single "click", it's the starter solenoid. Tap it with a hammer to unstick the plunger and it should start, but you'll have to replace it.

If the starter is spinning the motor, it could be a lot of other things. Check for fuel, check for spark but yah, you need to be more speicific.
