alternator/electrical issue?
so we swapped a b20 into my 92 integra. While trying to put a base map on the ecu, all the eletrical in the car went crazy, coolant gauge went completely hot, gas gauge went below empty, radio wouldn't turn on, seat belt ding kept going off. we put a volt meter on the battery, at idle it was pushing out 12.05 volts. Now I'm running a pc680 odyssey battery. Tsunami batter terminals. Eventually the car just died and wouldn't turn over, I had no power. So I bought an alternator from oriellys, swapped it in, everything was working fine again. Pushing out 14.36 volts at idle ect...fast forward 2 weeks, the day before my wedding, I'm driving down the road to my rehearsal dinner. Out of no where the car does the same thing, everything goes nuts. I am able to drive home, I notice as I drive and hold the rpm at 4+ the electrical comes back to life. but as I slow down and tap the brake everything dies again. Just as I get to the driveway, the car is almost dead, windows won't roll up, no radio ect, I have to push the car into the garage. Once again the car is only pushing 12ish volts. The car will start run for a sec and die. Eventually it just wont' start. battery shows with car off around 10 volts. So I return the alternator for a new one, put it in last sunday, no problems until today. As I leave work I start the car and the battery light comes on. No blinking at first, but as I start to drive, it starts to blink at me, sort of like the CEL does when you read a code. I get home hook the volt meter up and sure enough 12 volts. I tested the alternator, some say this is bad, whatever by disconnecting the battery while the car is running. The car stays running, it does not die. The battery light is still on, and blinking at times.
The charge system seems pretty easy to me. Alternator wire to fuse box, fuse box to battery. Battery to starter. Is there anything I am missing or looking over? Or just bad luck with the alternators...? I'm clueless and about ready to sell the car.
