bad battery or alternator?

bad battery or alternator?
Well my car out of nowhere has not been starting up. I first noticed it was having trouble starting, and now it doesnt even try starting. Once the car is jumped though, it starts right up and lights, blinkers, and radio all work fine, but after a half hour drive, and letting it sit for 10 mins it wont start up again.
Thanks ahead of time

Sounds like your Batt doesnt hold a charge.
Do this:
Run the car for 1/2 hour.
With car running read the volts with a volt meter on the batt.
Turn the car off.
Read the volts again.
Give it 5 mins and read again.
IF the volts drop then the batt cant hold a charge and needs to be replace.
If it happens again with a new batt then its the alt. as well.

yea like stated above it sounds like your battery can't hold the charge...sametihng happened to me..replaced the battery and everytihng was fine ...also i wouldnt keep tryin to start it over and over again. reason being is that its gonna put more wear on the starter and eventually causing that to go out....samething happened to my friend

how old is the batt? change that but get the electrical tested from autozone to see if the alternator is still good. the alternator might be dying thus not rechargin tht batt properly, draining the batt for power. possibly the voltage regulator on the alternator.

Run a load test. With car off hook a battery tester or a multimer up to it. SEE what the voltage is, then put a load on the battery if the voltage drops to like 12or 11 volts then you do have a dead battery but this doesnt mean your batter is bad. You may have a bad alternator. To determine this turn the car on hook the volt meeter or battery tester up to the battery see what the voltage is . if its already reading in the 12 amp or lower range then you know your alternator is dead. If not put a load on it by turning on the headlights. If the amps drop to about 12 amps or lower then your alternator is bad. If your alternator is bad replace it. Now your depending how long you have been running your car like this your Battery may be salvageable. After you put the new alternator on it will begin to try and recharge whats left of your battery. To get the best results to rehcarge your battery take the car drive about 55 mp and about for about 5 milles. Then come back home and recheck the voltage on just the battery.
