How is your idle? I would suspect the belt is loose as well. You also might want to check your voltage regulator (normally found attached to the alternator).

What? You're losing voltage from where... The battery?
The battery is going to draw more voltage when more and more accessories are on and being used. The car is going to use less voltage no accessories are being used.

hey my idle is fine i checked the belt and it seems that it has enought tension on it
what happens is it starts up fine and the voltage reads 14v then i drive it and after awhile then it drops to thirteen and then to 12v (car is still driving fine) and the batery light in the dash comes on but the car still drives fine
don't have a clue hope it is not the alternator that thing is a bitch to take out
what is this voltage regulator all i have coming out of the alternator is the green plug harness and the white wire
help

Whoa! Do not suspect right away that it is battery. I highly doubt it is. He is saying he's getting 14v voltage on idle, then drops to 12v at high RPMs with the battery light coming on. That is a good sign of the voltage regulator going bad.
jdmcx, just to be on the safe side. Take out the battery and have it load-tested for free. I highly doubt it's the battery, but eliminate the easy ones. If the battery checks out fine, I'm pretty sure it's your alternator. Your voltage regulator is normally attached on the alternator, but I do not know where because I do not own a Civic.
