Change fuel pump with a swap?
For an ek or eg when doing a swap do I need to change the fuel pump to lets say a civic type R, integra type R or aftermarket walbro? will this benefit my engine peformance?

i've heard different stories that the swap should be done, but me personally, i have a 93 hatch w/ a b16 and i'm still running on the oem dx pump.

If you plan to do further upgrades to the engine that demand much more fuel in the future, then go ahead and swap it out. On just a swap, stock is just fine. Unless it's old, weak or dying I wouldn't replace it. It wouldn't hurt though.
I think I should. I heard that if you dont change it then it could cause your motor to be running lean which is bad.. my spark plugs are already like a faded white color.. I think Im running lean because of the weak fuel pump... should I upgrade it to a gsr fuel pump like my motor?
its really your call. what you can do is check the fuel pressure after the swap. fuel pumps cost some dough so its really up to you, its not like a 10 dollar fuel filter or something.
if it was me i would try the old fuel pump with the new motor for a week, see what happens. its not like the new swap is using alot more fuel, such as a turbo application or using bigger injectors

Quote from book:
"Since many civic fuel pumps were not designed to flow enough to support in excess of 100 horsepower, a replacement may be necessary. Integra, Civic, and Accord chasis receiving VTEC engines may want to look to the aftermarket. (fuel pumps).. it's something that should definitely be considered once a more powerful engine is installed. It's a small price to pay to avoid the potential hazards of lean fuel mixtures. I have a copy of that, its actually not a bad book, it is getting old now, but it covers a lot of common swaps and gives some valuable tidbits of information here and there.

hahah yeah.. but I want to confirm or get more details out of changing the fuel pumps and see if anyone actually had swapped it out for a more powerful fuel pump.. but from the answers I got, it seems as though noone really does that.. haha

If your going between a book and what people on H-T are saying i'd tend to say go with what the book says, that said there aren't that many people that swap out fuel pumps and it doesn't seem to cause any problems.
