BOV Not opening properly
ok so heres the set up,
d16y8 8.5:1 compression, turbonetics turbo, tial wastegate. running 14 psi.
after leting off the throttle excess boost is back feeding out the turbo, then the bov opens just for a split second. as i watch the boost gauge i notice vacuum drops a little slow. i have tried every vacuum source on the engine. looking for anyone who can help me out. im very frustrated, oh yah and its a greddy type-r bov brand new. ive always had this problem. turbo is brand new and i dont wanna mess it up, meaning i cant enjoy the power this lil single cam has. please help me out peeps!!

Pretty much any vacum source will work. If the spring in the bov is to stiff it will do what you are talking about also. You may need to install a lighter spring.

Sounds like you have a tear in your diaphragm. Vacuum drawing down slow might be a sign of a vac leak past the throttle body.
Check the diaphragm yo

uh, did you try adjusting the BOV?
FWIW, they haven't made the Type R brand new for a number of years now. Do you mean type RS or type S? I know the type S is adjustable...

I had the SAME problem. One of the Y adapters for the vacuum source actually had a restrictor in it. It made the BOV see the full pressure too late. Swapped the Y adapter for a regular one (larger inside diameter) and it fixed it.
