i bought a ssqv off here and got the whole together this week , ive got oil coming out of the exhuast side ..... figured the t25 for 50 bucks would do that .. used a .060 restrictor on my feed still smokes so its lookin like its time for a rebuild ... anyways ontop of that i got this ssqv not opening AT ALL full boost ( 5psi lol ) or even down low all i get is a whole lot of compressor surge ... at first i thought it was looking from the bolt on the bask fixed that still nothing ... no leaks anywere else the line is directly off my s2 mani. tried the brake booseter with a t still nothing. cleaned and lubed the bov NOTHING . seller says it worked fine so im assuming it did wtfis going on ive rear alot of crap about " oh you need more boost " that bs there alt of cars out there running 5psi with a ssqv or close to that ..im bout ready to hack the flange off and get a greddy s or rs ...

 

ok did more reading on how these things work and theres no reason mine dosnt open .... it moves freely and its gettin vaccum and boost on the other side yet it still dosnt open .....

 

is it a real HKS SSQV or a ebay special that looks like one?

 

had a similar problem with mine. turned out the fins in the front had broken off, i ordered a new fin insert and then it started making the trademarked ssqv sound.

 

Its normal for the hks ssqv, when im partial throttle about 5 psi it wont open but like 5-10 psi it opens,


I took it off cause i love compressor surge its sooo sexy sounding

my ssqv will blow off at less than 1psi of pressure.......acutally i can make it blow off while still under vacuum.

there must be something wrong with yours...try adjusting the screw in the back...maybe that will help?? other than doing that maybe you got a fake/replica ssqv and its not functioning like the real deal....

i dont know....hehe.......try out then in....could how many times you turn it though.....so you can get an idea how much you went from the original setting....

 

Loosen the adjustment screw(turn it out) if the BOV isn't opening at lower pressures.

 

it is a real hks bov , the screw is all the way out which is the softest it can go and still no good . but i finally got it to work , i put a softer spring from a Holley choke diaphram. like said before it should blow off even if there is under 1psi of boost which mine does now , ive even read that someone has completely removed the spring all together ! i dont know why but for some reason this happens alot more then it should .... ive read so many threads with the same stupid problem and yet hks says that they are %99.5 defect free ...... which is bs

I've heard those things sound like a chicken being raped..or something else not good..

 

naw it sounds more like a futuristic laser bean lol idk i kinda like it ... it was this or a rfl ... or of course the 1g dsm bov i had 5 of them lol
