the car i have is a 92 civic si... having problem....sometimes it start up and dies...i recently got a new starter and distributor and then the problem went away and came back....now my brother thinks it is the main rely.....so i went to the junkyard and pick one up and replace it....then....wow it started.!!!but the sad thing was it died afterward....and now i replaced with the old rely and started...and it stay on for a while...so i turn it off for 15 to 10 mins and turn it back on...then it work and it would die about a min later....what else can it be?????sorry for the long post but what else can it be the ECU?????? thanks

You might want to check the timing, and possibly do a valve lash adjustment. I had a similar problem once, it would start and sound like it had a cam and in a few minutes would die, but that was my problem. Do you have any cel's?

Have you ever cleaned your IACV? That did wonders on keeping my 97 from stalling out while idle.

yeah check ur timing. did it run fine before? if u play with the gas will it stay running or shut off right away?

 

You replaced the main relay with one from a salvage yeard did you open either one up and check for bad solder connections?

it ran before.....and the distributor is set.....but yea when the car starts and when i gas it....it would die sometimes and sometimes when i gas it....it would be fine.......so i dont know...thanks...could it be that im not getting enough gas??? thanks

 

I would put some fresh gas in it and change the fuel filter. Then check you IACV like said above.
