matco trailing arm extractor near MD?
Hey guys, alot of my bolts that I need to remove to take out my RTA's are stripped to hell and would probably crack, and I was wondering if anyone knew or owned one of those matco extractors anywhere near maryland. This isnt really a tech question, but i figured id give it a shot before i bought one for 200 bucks -_-, ty guys.
I can't help you with obtaining a tool, but I might be able to offer some advice. When you press the bushing out, you'll probably need to use a strong 1/2" impact gun to turn the bushing out. I don't think you'll like yourself in the morning if you try to squeeze it out using hand tools. It'll make the job easier as well since the only thing holding the RTA up is the LCA joint. Everything else gets unbolted.
alright, cool. Yeah its definitely time for me to get an impact. When removing the bar between the RTA bushings one of the bolts broke in half. Its a big *** bolt too, mostly i guess due to the fact that I was using hand tools and might of applied uneven pressure. Have you happen to ever see this?
On my Integra, they came out easily. But, on the race car ('92 Civic hatch), they were rusted in and we had to fight to get them out. We ended up using a 2ft cheater on the 1/2" ratchet to barely get enough leverage to get them out.
I had to tap the threads in the frame and buy new bolts.
