Okay to mount MSD ignition in the interior, rather than under hood? MSD says no.

Default Okay to mount MSD ignition in the interior, rather than under hood? MSD says no.

Largely a gutted race interior, and I was thinking of wiring the MSD 6AL box and 3 step launch control in my interior. MSD says it's noisy and not desirable to have on the interior and the box gets hot so needs exterior air blowing on it.

Is that crapola or good advice?

Who's got a sweet race style interior with MSD mounted in there? PICS?

Any help is appreciated.

External coil I assume. Where is the coil mounted?

In most cases I agree.

Although, I love the nostalgic feel of seeing an MSD box mounted in the engine bay, that and a polished valve cover with a silicone hose dress-up kit, it’s 1999 again.

To the OP’s post, if you’re going to use it I’d mount it in the engine bay like they said.

It's not about attempting to better my ignition, or looking for something better than what Honda offers. My only interest is in launch control and rev limiting.

Trying to do it without management solutions like Neptune/Hondata. I don't have a shop to help with, so I'm on my own. No shops within 700 miles in any directions. I don't have the luxury of whipping the car on a dyno, or having some "pro" look at it.

I'm on my own. Well, not entirely accurate. I have you guys.

Oh, that makes sense then…I guess I’m spoiled having Locash 30 minutes from my house, good luck.

I don’t know if you saw these but they might help…

Thanks B20sedan.

consensus seems to be that it's probably okay. Wish I could see a few setups on the interior.

On the threads you showed me, all the pictures of something mounted inside are dead image links. I'm getting so tired of old threads with dead image links.

Mount it on something that lifts it up a bit so that it has air all around it. I did one last year with a simple aluminum bracket that it sat on that kept it about 3/4" off the mounting surface.
