Default ROD BEARING OIL CLEARANCE???

Hey

Im building a GSR for alot of boost. What do i want my clearnace's to be for my rod bearngs. Ive done alot of searching and cant seem to get a good strait answer and its not realy something i want to gambel with.

They are at 2thou three tenths now, i think that is gunna be to big as from what ive read most people are saying that 2 thou is about the bigest they would go??

Eagle h-beams if it matters, and a polished gsr crank.

Check your factory specs for your engine and put it on the higher side of the spec. .0015 worked well for me, and I believe Earl (RIP) used to recommend .0016 (if my memory is correct)

I phone acura and they have no clue what im talking about. They say all we can do is get you the right one by checking numbers on the rods and the crank and matching them to colors.
I said yeah, i know, i can do that to. Now do you want to find these numbers on my eagle rods please???

Then their like, "You cant use these bearings with aftermarket rods, you have to get aftermarket bearings"

Then they said "We dont have any specs at all"

????????????????????????

Many people shoot for the middle of the specs, .0015 to .0017. In my motor with the LS crank and eagle rods I went with tighter clearances of .0012 to .0013 and I have not had any issues at all. It has seen 9200 rpm plenty of times.

.0015 dead nuts all the time...that's all I ever set any motor. From my Larry (Endyn) influence days. That's what he builds all his Honda motors to, and I figured if it worked for him, it'd work for me. 9000rpm boosted, NA motors, doesn't matter.

Your clearances are certainly loose. That's good for a race motor with no break in, and something that gains a little from loosing a little friction, but I personally wouldn't be comfortable with a clearance that big on a rebuild. Cut the crank slightly and go with an oversize bearing.
