i don't know a lot about cars yet, i'm still learining quite a bit. i just rebuilt my h23vtec and it won't stay running. it fires up but runs very rough. and it only runs if i open the throttle some. as soon as i let off the gas it dies right away. does anyone have any suggestions on what may be the problem?... or any trouble shooting tips i can do?... thanks for any help

 

after doing a little more reading i realized one thing i did wrong. i don't think i set my balance shafts right. if they're to far out of whack could that keep the motor from running?... how do i set them to the correct positions?

 

nobody has any clue if there is a correct position for the balance shafts?

 

Title your threads better.

Check your ignition and timing.

If balance shafts are out of wack, the car would just run ruff.

 

ok thank you. the thread is named what it is cause i couldn't get it to run. i read about the balance shafts and realized that i didn't set them right. thats why i asked about them. and it is running very rough when its running.

 

when you say rebuilt, what did you do to it. you always remember, your car will not run if you have no gas, spark, and compression. if you are missing one it will not run and may act up? your car sounds like its running on 3 cylinder and not all 4 cylinder. the 1st thing that i would do is check for timing on the dizz and the mark on the crankshaft.
