DA b18c1 swap
ok I have a couple of quick questions
I have a 1992 integra RS and I am currently in the process of building a 1996 b18c1 for boost, I just want to make sure I get everything covered.
since the motor came from a OBD2 car what types of different things will I need to do to the ecu to do the swap?
I will be using a USDM p72 ecu, on crome.
do I need to use a OBD1 distrubutor?
tell me if I am missing anything
stay obd1, just get a odb1 dizzy for the gsr motor. and add the vtec subharness. You can move your injectors over from your current motor and there might be a sensor or two required to switch but other than that it will be really easy. You can even use your current ECU and just have it chipped and buy the OBD1 Chip Kit and VTEC Conversion Combo from xenocron
I agree with CRXSTYLIN! The motor drops right in and first thing is first. just use your non vtec harness and obd 1 dizzy and run your knock sensor wire, oil press and vtec lines. there are many ways to do it just remember it's only wire! The only diff in wiring between non-vtec and vtec are the things listed above! get a chilton for a 94 gsr that is pretty much what you are doing..... oh and zip tie the flap on the side of the manifold open to allow for better top end!

I am just gunna be buying a S2 intake manifold.
I going boosted, the motor is gunna be torn down soon, I have a Honda shopping list to buy on Tuesday lol

did this exact swap.
1.) use the b18a1 obd1 harness. most everything will match up. you will need to run wires for the vtec solenoid, vtec pressure sensor, and knock sensor. i recall doing something with the map sensor, but i dont remember what exactly. i think i pulled the original and ran the obd2 one thats on the throttle body. use the a1 injectors because theyre all 240cc just like those in the gsr. that is, unless youre runnings 450cc injectors or something like that for your boost.
2.) if you dont want to buy an obd1 vtec dizzy, the internals from the b18a1 dizzy can be swapped into the obd2 case. you can also use b18a1 dizzy if you cut a leg off. i dont like that idea though.
3.) im running an obd1 p72 untuned with my blox mani. it sucks. id buy a chipped p28 if i were you, as i hear theyre the most preferred ecu to tuners.
anything else?

whats the difference from the P28 to the P72, the P72 was made for the GSR motor correct?
what did the P28 come from?
would this work?

the p72 is the gsr ecu and the p28 is the sohc vtec ecu. it can be chipped to work though. that would work as long as you have it tuned when you get it?

P28 is one way to go! You can run your car on any obd1 computer including sohc non-vtec but you'll wanna stay with something that has v-tec. People use p28 because they are easy to find and easy to program. you can run this p28 without chipping it but you'll get a 7000rpm rev limit or you can go with a p30 b16 ecu works great! My advice to you is to find a p30 and leave it unchipped for a while so you can figure out all of the bugs in your motor first. there is always something that pops up when you install a new motor... chipped comps tend to ingnore some engine problems.... So i'd say p30 and then chip it....
you can pretty much use chrome on any obd1 vtec ecu
hope this helps
