obd1 motor in a obd2 car.
Im getting a obd1 gsr this week. The motors in great shape, and ive need having a hard time finding obd2 gsr's. Only issue is, I have a 97 delsol S, its obd2.
Im not really sure what I need to do to install this motor.
Since the GSR is obd1, what is needed for the installation?
Dizzy, ecu? Im not totally positive. Or could I run just a chipped p28?
I'm really not sure what i need. Someone help.
Drew

if you get the car harness for the GSR too then just leave the motor alone and plug the harnesses together, then run it to the inside of the car and plug in the ECU and you got it, if you state has any smog laws this will be illegal as all hell though

Re: obd1 motor in a obd2 car. (Spade)
so basically since its a complete swap and it comes with all obd1 componets like distributor injectors harness and ecu i just use everything it came with and just act like im putting it into a obd1 car? IE: put the motor in, use the obd1 dizzy, harness and etc. and run that harness to the obd1 gsr ecu and ill be fine?instead of changing everything to obd2 since im getting all the obd1 things it would be easier for me to use the stuff coming with the gsr. smog is not an issue for me.

This is what I did with my 95 (OBDI) B18B1 in my 99 Civic (OBDIIB) car. I ran the Ls motor with a 99 (OBDIIB) Civic Si wiring harness and installed a OBDII injectors, alternator, and ran the OBDI dizzy and cut the plug from the Si Dizzy and spliced the wires to the OBDI dizzy. Since it was all OBDII wiring harness then I ran the OBDII to OBDI jumper to my 95 LS ECU.
thats kinda complicated here is the break down...
obdI motor
obdII wiring harness
obdII alternator
obdI dizzy w/ obdII plug
obdII injectors
and obdII to obdI jumper w/ obdI ls ecu
if that helps any there you go ....good luck with your swap!

rewire the dizzy, some of the plugs are different as well. i think it has a crank angle sensor and some other stupid **** that OBDI cars do not have. i would run a OBDI P72,or just run a chipped P28...also remember that a P72 requires you to retain your knock sensor.also remember to use OBDI injectors
