what swap to do????
I have a 1999 civic DX coupe with a stock d16y7. I wanna do a swap to give the car a little more power. What I want from the swap is a good reliable motor that can push 200hp with bolt-ons if necesary as well as a solid amount of torque. Im looking to spend about 3000 so heres a list of possible options.
b16a
b18c1
LS vtec
b20 vtec
h22a
f20b
What can you guys tell me about any of these swaps, or any I didnt mention, in your civics.
H22 offers great power and torque, cheap price, LSD and seems like a really good choce but I heard its very difficult to install can't have p/s and it throughs off the handling of the car because of the added wright to the front of the car is any of this true?

If you want 200hp from bolt on's(maybe a lil bit more) the easiest way is to get a JDM B18c. Comes with 180 hp and 126 ft tq. Full swap from hmotorsonline.com (best place to get a swap
) is 3000 but if you have more money i would get the lsd upgrade (only 350 more). H series motors will run you over more then 3k. May be cheap to buy but not cheap to put in

you want power so a b16 is out of the question..
you have a a budget so a straight h22 is out..
budget wise good luck with a ls/vtec..
imo a solid 1.8 liter will make you happy

I love how the F22b (mid 90's Accord Engine) is on the list. I thought you wer looking for an upgrade, not a sidestep. That engine is no better than your current D series.
My suggestion is to turbo what you have. For the price of any of those swaps, you could make 220whp on your stock D. None of those engines is going to make that out of the box or with simple bolt-ons.
